Snapshots of Our Week | A Few Days in Copake & Back to Long Island!

Our summer of fun continued last week up in Copake for the 4th of July. We ventured over to the Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge on Monday, which we had never been to before. It was so awesome! The grounds are so well kept, and the gardens are very kid-friendly. They have an exhibit of playhouses going on right now, through September, and it is fantastic. The kids loved exploring each of the little houses. They also loved checking out the vegetable gardens and the children's garden. If you are up in the Berkshires at all this summer, I definitely recommend a visit!

The morning of the 4th, we drove over to Bash Bish Falls to play in the run-off water at the bottom of the falls. The kids were so daring! Lila climbed over rock after rock, and even Logan went in the water (and he hates water!).

Back at the house in Copake that day, we relaxed, grilled, made s'mores, and then played with sparklers later in the day. Eric set off some fireworks, which Lila kind of liked, and Logan was terrified of.

We drove back to Long Island on Wednesday and on Thursday we visited the Cradle of Aviation. I didn't take any photos that day, but the kids really enjoyed the museum! There are a lot of interactive displays and cockpits you can climb into and explore. I liked reading all about the history of aviation on Long Island. One statistic that stood out to me was that the U.S. manufactured 300,000 aircraft during World War II and 50,000 of those were made on Long Island... mostly by women! Pretty amazing, right?

My parents left on Friday and flew back to California - we miss them so much already! Lila and Logan loved having them here (me, too!)

On Sunday we went to the Plattdeutsche, a German beer garden and restaurant near where we live, for a beer festival. It was so fun! We spent all afternoon there!

And that was our week! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
